What is Family Medicine?

Family Medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care to people of all ages. It is a form of primary care that provides continuing, comprehensive health care for the individual and family across all ages, sexes, diseases and parts of the body.It is based on knowledge of the patient in the context of the family and the community, emphasizing disease prevention and promotion of healthy life.

What is the difference between a MD and a DO?

Both are fully licensed physicians. They have graduated from medical school and completed a residency program. A MD is sometimes called an allopathic physician, and a DO is an osteopathic physician. The main difference is in the philosophy of treatment, DO's are trained in manipulation, which involves manipulation of the musculoskeletal system. This is similar to chiropractors, but not all DO's actively practice manipulation.
